Linear
Create issues from chat. Status changes pushed back as conversation comments.
About the integration.
Linear is where modern product teams track work. Our integration turns any chat into a one-click Linear issue, with the conversation transcript attached and the customer email tagged. Status changes in Linear (Triage to In Progress to Done) post back into the conversation, so the customer hears about a shipped fix without anyone re-typing it.
What you get on day one.
- ✓Create a Linear issue from a chat with one keystroke.
- ✓Conversation transcript and customer context attached on the Linear issue.
- ✓Status changes (In Progress, Done, Cancelled) post back into the chat thread.
- ✓Customer auto-notified when their reported bug ships.
- ✓Linear labels mirror Message tags, so triage rules stay consistent.
- ✓Linked issues persist on the customer profile, so repeat reports are visible at a glance.
Under the hood.
We use Linear's GraphQL API and webhooks. When an agent clicks Create Linear Issue, we POST a mutation with the conversation transcript, customer email, and the Message conversation URL. Linear webhooks fire on status, comment, and assignee changes; we filter for issues we created and post a system message back into the original conversation. OAuth scopes are read-write on issues only, never on teams or settings.
Set up in 6 steps.
- 01In your message.com workspace, open Integrations, then Linear.
- 02Click Connect Linear. Authorize the OAuth scopes for your team.
- 03Pick the default Linear team and project to file issues into.
- 04Map Message tags to Linear labels (optional, defaults are sensible).
- 05Pick which Linear status transitions post back into the chat (default: In Progress and Done).
- 06Save. The Create Linear Issue action appears on every conversation.
Questions people ask before they install.
Can I file into multiple Linear teams?
Yes. The default is set per workspace, and individual agents can switch teams at the moment of filing.
Does the customer see the Linear issue URL?
No. We post a friendly status update ("the team is working on this", "this was fixed in our latest release") with no Linear internals exposed.
Will it work with Linear's free plan?
Yes. We use API surfaces available on every plan, including Free.
Can I attach files from the chat to the Linear issue?
Yes. Screenshots, logs, and any uploaded attachment ride along to Linear automatically.
