What is Message Team?
Message Team is team chat from message.com: channels, DMs, threads, reactions, file sharing, and search, plus huddles, live voice rooms with video and screen sharing. It runs in the browser today, with desktop apps for Mac and Windows and mobile apps for iPhone and Android rolling out to the stores. It is part of the message.com suite, so one account works across Message Team and the inbox products.
Is Message Team really free?
Yes. The Free plan is $0 for a space with your whole team on it: channels, DMs, threads, reactions, file sharing, search, 90 days of visible message history, 1:1 huddles, and 5 GB of storage per workspace. It is a real free plan, not a trial.
What happens to messages older than 90 days on the Free plan?
Nothing is ever deleted. On Free you can see the most recent 90 days, and everything older is stored safely out of view. Upgrade to a paid plan and your full history is revealed, every message intact.
What do the paid plans add?
Pro is $3 per user per month ($2.50 on annual billing) and adds unlimited visible history, group huddles for up to 50 people with video and screen share, and 10 GB of storage per member, pooled across the workspace. Business is $6 per user per month ($5 on annual) and includes everything in Pro plus AI: conversation summaries, AI search across your chat, and recaps. Business also raises storage to 20 GB per member, pooled.
How does the AI in Message Team work?
On the Business plan AI is included: it summarizes long conversations, answers searches across your chat in plain language, and writes recaps of what you missed. On Pro you can add the same AI for $2 per user per month. It is powered by our own models.
Is Message Team included in the inbox plans?
No, it is a separate product with its own pricing. The Free plan is available to everyone, and paid tiers are per user. Inbox plans (Chat, Support, Business) are flat per workspace and cover the customer-facing products. One account works across both.
Which apps can I use?
The web app is live now and runs in any modern browser. Desktop apps for Mac and Windows and mobile apps for iPhone and Android are built, and store distribution is rolling out, so the download buttons say coming soon until they land.
Do I need a separate account for Message Team?
No. One message.com account works across the whole suite. If your company already uses the inbox, your team signs in with the same account. If you are new, starting free takes a minute.
