Senior Backend Engineer, Voice
Help us replace the legacy CPaaS playbook. We run our own carrier-grade SIP infrastructure on commodity Linux, with inbound and outbound calling through wholesale carriers and AI features running on hardware we own. You will own the call path end to end: SIP signalling, media plane, recording, transcription, and the dashboard surface that agents click on.

- Own SIP signalling, RTP media handling, and real-time room orchestration in production.
- Build resilient SIP trunk failover across wholesale carriers, with health checks, latency probes, and automatic re-routing.
- Implement and harden call recording, transcription, and post-call AI summaries.
- Reduce mean call setup latency to under 600ms over a 99th percentile carrier mix.
- Run the on-call rotation for voice incidents (rotated weekly, two engineers).
Who you are
- 5+ years building production backends in Node, Go, or Rust.
- Hands on with SIP, RTP, and at least one open-source media server or softswitch.
- Comfortable with packet captures, network debugging, and CPU profiling.
- Have shipped a voice product to real users and have stories about the failure modes.
Nice to have
- Experience with G.711, G.722, Opus codec internals.
- WebRTC and Janus / Pion / mediasoup background.
- Wholesale telecom relationships and direct wholesale SIP experience.
