Under the hood.
When an agent clicks Start Meet, we use the Google Calendar API (with the events scope) to create an instant calendar event that auto-generates a Meet link. The link is posted into the chat conversation and emailed to the customer. The customer joins from the widget, no Google account required on their side. Recording, transcription, and post-call summary depend on your Google Workspace tier.

Do customers need a Google account?
No. They join from the chat widget link, no sign-in required.
Can I record the meeting?
Only if your Google Workspace plan supports Meet recording (Business Standard and up). The recording lives in the agent's Google Drive, not on Message servers.
What about Meet without Google Workspace?
Personal Gmail accounts can generate Meet links too, just with a one-hour cap and no recording. Works fine for short escalations.
Does it work alongside Zoom?
Yes. Both can be installed simultaneously. Agents pick which to use per conversation, or you can set a default per team.
