Allow notifications
Use the notification permission controls offered by your browser or installed Message app, and allow notifications in the device’s system settings. Notification support and background behavior depend on the platform you are using.
Choose chat sounds
At https://app.message.com/settings/chats/notifications you can configure sounds for new chats, new messages and visitor replies. These are chat sound preferences, not a per-device mobile push schedule.
Test in the background
Have a teammate send a test message while your app is in the background. Check Focus or Do Not Disturb, muted conversations and routing. Do not assume urgent messages bypass your phone’s quiet settings.
