Under the hood.
When the plugin activates, it injects a tiny loader script into the WordPress footer. The loader fetches the latest widget bundle from our CDN, opens a Socket.io connection, and registers the visitor against your workspace. If WooCommerce is active, the plugin exposes a few authenticated REST endpoints so message.ai can pull order data on demand. No data is sent to message.com until a visitor opens the widget, and even then only the data your AI is configured to use.
Set up in 5 steps.
- 01In WordPress admin, go to Plugins, then Add New.
- 02Search for "message.com" and click Install Now, then Activate.
- 03Open the Message.com settings page and paste your workspace key. The key is shown after signup at app.message.com.
- 04Pick a widget theme color and an initial greeting. Defaults are sensible.
- 05Save settings. The widget appears on the front-end immediately.
Questions people ask before they install.
Does it work with WooCommerce?
Yes. The plugin auto-detects WooCommerce and exposes order data to the AI through authenticated REST endpoints. No extra configuration.
Will it conflict with my caching plugin?
No. We tested against WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, LiteSpeed, and WP Super Cache. The widget loader uses a versioned URL, so a cached page still gets the latest widget code.
Can I install on a WordPress Multisite network?
Yes. Network-activate the plugin once, then each site configures its own workspace key.
What about WordPress.com hosted sites?
Business plan WordPress.com sites can install third-party plugins. Free and Personal plans cannot. Use the JavaScript snippet install instead.
