Under the hood.
Webflow lets you paste custom code into Project Settings (head and footer) or into a page-level Embed block. We give you a one-line script tag that loads the widget from our CDN. On page load, the widget detects a Webflow Members session cookie if present, identifies the visitor, and connects to your workspace. CMS collections and Ecommerce data are crawled via Webflow's CMS and Ecommerce APIs for AI grounding.
Set up in 5 steps.
- 01Open your Webflow project and go to Project Settings, Custom Code.
- 02Paste the message.com script tag (from your workspace setup wizard) into the Footer Code field.
- 03Click Save and Publish your site.
- 04Optional: for Webflow Ecommerce, open Integrations, Webflow in your message.com workspace and authorize the Webflow API to enable order lookup.
- 05Optional: pick which Webflow CMS collections feed the AI's knowledge base.
Questions people ask before they install.
Do I need a paid Webflow plan?
Yes. Custom Code requires the CMS plan or higher on a site plan, or any paid Workspace plan if you publish to webflow.io. Free plans do not support custom code.
Will it identify Webflow Members?
Yes. The widget reads the Webflow Members session and surfaces the logged-in member's email and ID in the inbox.
Can it pull from Webflow CMS as a knowledge source?
Yes. Pick which collections to expose under Integrations, Webflow. The AI will ground its replies in those collections and cite the source.
Does it work with Webflow Ecommerce?
Yes. Products, orders, and customers are pulled via Webflow's Ecommerce API. Refunds happen in the Webflow dashboard, not in chat, since Webflow does not yet expose a refund API.
