Notion
Use Notion docs as a knowledge-base source. AI grounds answers in your team wiki.
About the integration.
Use Notion docs as a knowledge-base source for message.ai. Connect a workspace, pick which pages or databases to ground the AI in, and watch every reply land cited with the source. Keep writing in Notion, the AI keeps reading.
What you get on day one.
- ✓Use Notion docs as a knowledge source for AI grounding.
- ✓Pick specific pages, sub-pages, or entire databases to expose.
- ✓Re-syncs on Notion edits within 5 minutes.
- ✓AI replies cite the Notion page they pulled from.
- ✓Per-page version history surfaced in the AI debug log.
- ✓Notion permissions respected (private pages stay private).
Under the hood.
We connect to your Notion workspace through the official Notion API. You pick which pages or databases to expose. We crawl those pages, chunk them, and index them on our own private infrastructure inside your workspace. Your content stays in your account and is never sent to a third-party model provider. When the AI answers, it retrieves the matching chunks and grounds its reply. The cited source links back to the original Notion page.
Set up in 5 steps.
- 01Open Integrations > Notion in your message.com workspace.
- 02Click Connect Notion. Notion will ask you to pick the workspace and the pages to share.
- 03In the Message dashboard, confirm which shared pages or databases to use as AI grounding.
- 04Optional: pick a category for each (Help docs, Pricing, Policies, Internal notes).
- 05Wait for the initial crawl (typically under 5 minutes for under 500 pages).
Questions people ask before they install.
Will the AI leak internal Notion pages to customers?
No. The AI only sees the pages you explicitly shared with the Message integration. Private pages stay private.
How often does it re-sync?
Within 5 minutes of a Notion edit. We use Notion's webhook plus a fast poll.
What about databases with thousands of rows?
Supported. We chunk by row, embed each row's text fields, and treat each row as a retrievable unit.
Does it index attached files in Notion?
PDFs and images with OCR yes, on the Business plan. Plain Notion text is indexed on every plan.
