Instagram is now a primary support channel for any consumer brand. Our integration uses the official Instagram Messaging API to route Instagram DMs, Story replies, and comments into your message.com inbox. Story mentions, post mentions, and shared post replies all become threaded conversations with full context.

How it works

Under the hood.

Instagram requires a Professional (Business or Creator) account connected to a Facebook Page via Meta Business Manager. Our setup wizard walks through the linkage. Once connected, every DM, Story reply, and comment streams into your workspace via Meta webhooks. The 24-hour customer-service window applies (same Meta policy as Messenger). Replies go through the Instagram Send API.

Make sure your Instagram account is set to Professional and linked to a Facebook Page.

Open Integrations, Instagram in your message.com workspace.

Click Connect Instagram. You will be redirected to Meta to authorize.

Approve the instagram_basic and instagram_manage_messages scopes.

Pick which Instagram account to connect (you can connect multiple).

FAQ

Questions people ask before they install.

Do I need a Business or Creator account?

Yes. Personal Instagram accounts cannot use the Messaging API. Switch to Professional in the Instagram app settings (free).

Will it pick up comments on my posts?

Yes. Comments are routed in as conversations. You can reply, hide, or delete from the inbox.

Can I run AI on Instagram DMs?

Yes. The same AI that handles your chat handles Instagram. The 24-hour rule still applies to outbound messages.

What about Story mentions and shared posts?

Story mentions and shared posts come in as conversations with the original media attached. Threading keeps the full context together.
