ActiveCampaign
Contact and tag sync. Trigger automations from chat events. Map agents to AC users.
About the integration.
ActiveCampaign is the automation-heavy CRM that mid-market teams pick when Mailchimp gets too shallow. Our integration syncs Contacts and tags both ways, fires Goal events on conversation outcomes, and maps message.com agents to ActiveCampaign users so Deals route correctly. The AI grounds replies in custom AC fields when answering.
What you get on day one.
- ✓Two-way sync of Contacts and tags.
- ✓Trigger Automations on Message events (chat opened, AI resolved, escalated).
- ✓Goal-event support for funnel analysis in ActiveCampaign.
- ✓Sync custom fields and Deal stages both ways.
- ✓Map message.com agents to AC users for proper Deal ownership.
- ✓Works across all ActiveCampaign plans, including Lite.
Under the hood.
We connect via the ActiveCampaign V3 API using a per-account API token. Contacts sync on a webhook plus poll combination: AC webhooks fire on contact updates, a 60-second poll catches anything missed. Each chat fires a Goal event on the matching Contact, with tags and custom fields populated. Automations listen for the events you configure.
Set up in 6 steps.
- 01In your message.com workspace, open Integrations, then ActiveCampaign.
- 02Paste your ActiveCampaign API URL and Key. Find them in AC under Settings, then Developer.
- 03Map fields: email is required, plus any custom fields (Plan, Lifecycle, NPS) you want synced.
- 04Map agents: message.com agent to AC user (or auto-match by email).
- 05Pick which events fire as Goals and which trigger custom Automations.
- 06Save. Initial sync runs in the background, typically under 10 minutes.
Questions people ask before they install.
Does it work with the Lite plan?
Yes for Contact sync and basic automations. Site tracking and lead scoring require Plus or Professional.
Can I trigger a Deal-stage change from chat?
Yes. Map a conversation outcome (e.g., AI resolved as qualified) to a Deal-stage update on the linked Deal.
What about ActiveCampaign Conversations (their chat product)?
If you have AC Conversations running, you can keep it, but most teams turn it off after switching since Message handles chat plus AI plus inbox in one place.
Will it conflict with my existing AC Forms?
No. Form-collected contacts and chat-collected contacts merge on email. Tags from both sources stack on the same Contact.
