We do 'Free shipping on orders over $75' on cart pages. Opens at 22%, conversions to checkout at 11%.

Both above are great patterns. Two rules of thumb from talking to ~50 customers: be specific (not 'need help?'), and trigger after 12-20 seconds of dwell, not on page load.
